What is SIF?

"SIF" stands for "Středoevropský Institut Filosofie" ("The Central-European Institute of Philosophy"). The Institute promotes philosophy and transdisciplinary research. It achieves its goals through a specific curriculum and research, emphasizing the transdisciplinary and intercultural aspects and international cooperation. Furthermore,it hosts workshops and conferences,participates in several publishing activities and promotes the exchange of students and professors.

Institute

Affiliation of the SIF. The Central-European Institute of Philosophy is an affiliated organisation to the Charles University, Prague, Faculty of Humanities, Department German and French Philosophy, and to the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Institute of Philosophy, Department of Contemporary Continental Philosophy.

Concerns of the SIF. The Institute promotes philosophy and transdisciplinary research. The concern of the SIF is to elaborate the potential for cultural ramifications, in which the cultural area of ​​today’s Czech Republic and neighboring countries with other European traditions has come in the relationship, in view of its future pan-European and also non-European relations.

Work profile of the SIF. The Institute achieves its goals through a specific curriculum and research, emphasizing the transdisciplinary and intercultural aspects and international cooperation. Furthermore, it hosts workshops and conferences, participates in several publishing activities, including the edition of two own book series, and promotes the exchange of students and professors.

Structure of the SIF. The Institute is managed by one Czech and one German director. It has permanent staff and a number of foreign associates. Its work is also supported by an international advisory board of renowned philosophers who, as research partners, help to coordinate research projects and scientific exchange.
